Two illegal immigrants who used counterfeit identification cards for jobs as subcontractors at a Garyville refinery were charged by a federal grand jury with theft according to the U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office.

Eduardo Salinas-Trevino 36 and Silverio [Cast]illo-Montoya 37 both citizens of Mexico were charged in separate one-count indictments Friday with fraud and misuse of permanent resident cards according to a news release from Letten's office.

According to the release Salinas-Trevino and [Cast]illo-Montoya used counterfeit permanent resident cards as proof of identification in connection with their employment as subcontractors at Marathon Oil Refinery in St. John the Baptist Parish.

If convicted Salinas-Trevino and [Cast]illo-Montoya face maximum terms of 20 years in jail a fine of $250 000 and three years of supervised release following imprisonment.

An investigation was conducted by special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement the release said.
